Rex Smith in Manila

Mini Trivia:
How I love to remember, way back my teenage time a very promising young actor Rex Smith. A good and gifted young actor and singer. He is one of the most popular teenage matinee idol of my time.

His voice has a gift of giving life to all his songs and surely delivered straight to the listeners heart. Mind you, even at our young age we can understand the message of his songs. "Smile!"

I grew up with the songs of the 80's and I always love the song of Rex Smith "Forever, Let's Make a Memory, You Take my Breath Away, Simply Jessie and a lot more. "

Rex Smith never forget us and for more than 3 decades he remains appreciative in every step of his way. He said "He would sing all my favorite songs that I've mentioned." I may say he is also happy to see old time friends, because we see him from where he started. Rex Smith humility has brought him this far in his career. I'm so proud of you Rex Smith not only with your great work but more because I meet you in person and experienced your warm kindness.

You deserve all the international success and it was a humbling experience for me to write about this on my Diary. I can't even thank you enough for giving me this chance in being a part of your 2012 Valentine Concert in Manila. This is one priceless moments with you and surely will never be forgotten. This wonderful pictures was framed and truly precious like a Diary.

John Denver Behind the Music ~ 2

John Denver was my favorite folk singer since my teen. He wrote many songs during his short life of only 53 years. Each song that he wrote touched people's hearts. He tried what he could to make the world a better place. His death shattered his family, friends and fans, including Myself. He will always be remembered and in his songs he will continue to live in our hearts.

He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. on New Year's Eve 1943. As the son of an airforce test pilot, he moved around alot. By age 12, he started to write his own songs. He had been given a guitar by his grandmother which she used in her early years.

In 1965, John joined the Chad Mitchell Trio. He tried his luck with Randy Sparks but did not get anything from him except for a new surname. Henry John Deutschendorf was now John Denver.

In 1967, the same year that he married his first wife Ann Martell, the Trio split.

He gained fame in the 1970s. He had a huge string of hits. He and Annie adopted their son Zak and daughter Anna-Kate.

The late 70's turned into the early 80's. He still wrote songs but they did not make it on the charts. His music sales began to dwindle but he remained as famous as he did in the 70's. He spent most of the 80's trying to help the world become a better place. He was still writing and recording his own songs. He recorded Two Different Directions. He wrote and recorded the songs for the album as the late 80's turned into the early 90's.

He married Cassandra Delaney. He and Cassandra became biological parents to a daughter named Jesse-Belle.

In 1995, he did a concert benefiting the wildlife conservation society. It was to be called the Wildlife Concert.

He still wrote and recorded his own songs. He planned to record 2 more albums but did not live long to do anything like that. On October 5th, he did a concert in Corpus Valley, Texas. That was to be the final concert as he did that concert just 1 week before he died.

On October 12th 1997, John Denver died when the plane that he was flying crashed into the sea. He will be remembered for the talents that god gave him. His ability to talk to people of all different generations and his ability to write and sing great music.

Inno Sotto "Manila's Prince of Fashion"

There are moments in our life when the heart is so full of gratefulness and all we can do was to smile and feel the moment not to miss the wonder with my 1st ever favorite Fashion Icon Inno Sotto named as "Manila's Prince of Fashion" a renowned fashion designer in the Philippines.

He lived in Manila and the United States. 1980 he won the grand prize for Most Outstanding Designers Competition over Manila’s best fashion designers. This event was held at the Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel, judged by a very select international panel of important fashion figures.

In 1987, he was elected president of Filipino Designers Group (FDG). As president, he initiated and launched the FDG Lifetime Achievement Awards. This award recognized the important contributions of select individuals to Philippine Fashion. He held a one-man show at the Fiesta Pavilion Ballroom of the Manila Hotel, called “Inno Sotto: SOLO.” This major show established him as the country’s top fashion designer for contemporary haute couture.

2012 JC Buendia 25th Anniversary

JC Buendia celebrated his 25th year in the fashion industry with a tribute fashion gala by Metro Society at Grand Ballroom Marriott Hotel, Manila on 27th of August 2012.

He is the current President of Fashion and Design Council of the Philippines, a Filipino fashion icon, a favorite of celebrities and high society.

JC Buendia on his 25th Anniversary Gala!

A brilliant man, with a gift of genius in his creations and master pieces for men and women. Classic yet modern at the same time.

~ Mini Trivia ~
How I love to remember a very promising classmate and a dear friend JC Buendia in our College years as Fine Arts Major in Interior Design students at the University of Santo Tomas.

Let me share a few of my many favorite things about this young man. In our classroom, we admired this young man who loves to draw his creative fashion ideas in his notebooks even in our academic subjects. Mind you, as we were all beginners, he was already good in drawing his models. He has an eye for beauty and proportion.

JC Buendia Designs and sketches!

Another one was his skill in sewing, it was seen as early as those days when he was making dresses for our classmate Arene San Gregorio's Barbie Dolls. Arene and our other friends were willing to pay him for those miniature creations. He made extra money from that.

All amateurs have their own untold stories, the very inspired young man had a passion to achieve his beautiful dream. They said, when your heart is in your dream, it will come to you and with his pure heart and his passion and hard work that has brought him to the top.
